Job Description:
Reporting directly to the Associate Director of Alumni and Career Services Operations and Marketing, the Assistant Director of Alumni and Career Services Operations and Marketing creates and implements the Office of Alumni and Career Services marketing and communications efforts designed to generate constituent awareness of and participation in key engagement initiatives, with a special emphasis on social media engagement. The Assistant Director collaborates closely with the Offices of Alumni Engagement, Lifelong Learning, and Career and Professional Development to reach their respective audiences through intentional communication channel planning, strategic messaging and creative design. The Assistant Director works closely with Alumni and Career Services team members and partners with other stakeholders across campus to ideate, produce, post and promote compelling and on-brand content for social media and other channels targeting constituent audiences (students, alumni, parents, etc.).

Supports the Associate Director in developing multi-faceted marketing and communication strategies for key constituent audiences (students, alumni, parents, etc.).
Develops and implements marketing plans intended to generate constituent awareness of and participation in the services, events and programs, and other engagement opportunities offered by the Office of Alumni and Career Services departments (Alumni Engagement, Lifelong Learning and Career and Professional Development).
Responsible for communication channel planning, content calendar development, and the design and creation of marketing materials to support Alumni Engagement, Lifelong Learning and Career and Professional Development initiatives. Collaborates closely with each team to ensure alignment on branding, messaging, content and timing.
Utilizes a variety of communication channels, including mass emails, website, print and promotional materials, social media platforms, texting and on-campus displays. Analyzes projects and campaigns quantitatively and qualitatively, reports on performance, and provides strategic recommendations to improve future communications.
Leads the content creation and scheduling processes for Alumni and Career Services social media platforms. Develops new and creative strategies for using social media to engage constituent audiences and stays abreast of trends and best practices.
Works closely with the Assistant Director of Alumni Engagement in developing strategies to engage alumni chapters via social media platforms.
Works closely with the Office of Communications and Public Affairs on shared social media campaigns and initiatives, as well as platform monitoring and issues management.
Maintains internal web pages and content for Alumni and Career Services departments, and collaborates with Communications and Public Affairs on external web pages and links.
Collects and analyzes data from various sources to inform the execution of marketing and communication strategies, including Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge/Net Community, website, emails, social media accounts, and other platforms.
Contributes to annual reporting and strategic planning processes; helps Alumni and Career Services team members to report important outcome and engagement data and uses data to support brand messaging and objectives.
Works collaboratively and maintains strong relationships with key partners across campus, including Communications and Public Affairs, Admissions, Athletics, Student Affairs, Development, and academic faculty and staff.
Collaborates with Associate Director of ACS Operations and Marketing to maintain brand alignment with university standards and accessibility guidelines.
Provides in-person support and staffing for Alumni and Career Services events and programs as needed, including on weekends for major reunions and banner events, and occasional evenings.
Promotes and Practices NACE Principles of Professional Conduct. Attends relevant career and professional development trainings to remain abreast of industry best practices.
Additional related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field and a minimum of three years professional experience, preferably in a higher education setting, is required.
Must have excellent creative design and writing skills, with an ability to adapt to different styles and to support brand guidelines.
The Assistant Director must have demonstrated ability to produce a variety of creative communications (poster and print collateral, social media campaigns, email campaigns) in a fast-paced environment with frequent overlapping deadlines.
Must have prior experience in office, program and event, and fiscal and budget management.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Minimum of intermediate experience with Microsoft 365 and Adobe Creative Suite products. Must be able to learn new platforms and software applications, keep current on trends and products. Comfortable with peripherals such as scanners and other technology.
