The strategic storytelling manager position performs a diverse range of marketing-related work for the School of Professional Studies – contributing to enrollment growth and student success at UNC Charlotte. This position is primarily responsible for researching, writing, and editing marketing content including but not limited to online articles, website content, email, and organic and paid social media posts. The position will also need to think strategically and brainstorm creative content ideas and work closely with stakeholders to extract a differentiated point of view and distill the essential value proposition we offer to the market. Additionally, this position will participate fully as a member of the Marketing and Communications team.
Develop and manage content to support all student recruitment/engagement efforts, review content and perform content edits.
Research, write, and edit copy for marketing communications including but not limited to online articles, white papers, case studies, blog posts, and website content all optimized for SEO.
Collaborate with design, digital marketing, and other team members to develop compelling and engaging content.
Conduct research on thought-provoking topics and translate that information into captivating and concrete storytelling.
Think strategically and brainstorm creative content ideas.
Keep up with and implement best practices in writing for the web, social media trends, web usability, SEO practices, and business/industry trends.
Minimum Experience / Education:
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
University Preferred Qualifications:
Graduation from a four-year college or university with a major in a closely related field and two years of experience that provides the knowledge, skills and abilities needed in the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Preferred Education Skills and Experience:
Higher Education Experience.
Experience using Drupal or WordPress or similar website content management platform.
Experience with writing content geared toward search engine optimization, with exceptional user-focused writing and editing skills, strong grammar and communication skills.
Experience using Salesforce preferred.
Experience with email communication platform, CMS and CRM experience is highly desirable.
Experience in Professional research, copywriting, and content creation.
Proficient in Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite Software.
Ability to work independently and prioritize work while managing multiple deadlines.
Strong organizational skills, detail oriented, high degree of accuracy and ability to multitask.
Evidence of facilitating and initiating creative thinking in the digital space.
