Director of Creative Solutions & Branding - Office of Marketing & Communications
The University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture (UTIA) seeks applicants for the position of Director of Creative Services and Branding in the office of Marketing and Communications. The Director serves as the leader of the creative communications division of the department using extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. The Director will oversee UTIA's brand in support the Institute's mission of providing Real. Life. Solutions. to the state of Tennessee and beyond. The primary functions of this position include:
Establishes creative direction for the office of Marketing and Communications in order to help achieve the Institute's overall communications objectives. Manages and executes day-to-day strategies for branding, creative and graphic design.
Works with leadership in the development of campaigns and strategy as it relates to purpose and creative design.
Reviews and approves all materials produced by the creative team before release to ensure quality and consistency with the Institute's branding guidelines.
Enforces the established brand standards for the Institute, including reviewing and approving use of UTIA related trademarks through IMG College Licensing.
Meets with clients and internal teams to access communication needs and goals and develop strategies for achieving those goals. Works closely with the Project Manager to evaluate client requests for appropriateness and ability for Marketing and Communications to successfully meet needs.
Acts as lead designer and works alongside project team members to develop concepts and appropriate communication vehicles for the client. Typically works on the highest profile and most significant projects either as lead consultant or designer (or both).
Supervises the work of the creative staff including recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees; communicates job expectations; monitors and appraises job results; coaches and counsels; enforces policies, procedures, and productivity standards.
Serves as a member of the leadership team for the Vice Chancellor and provides counsel on strategic initiatives. Participates in strategic marketing and communications discussions and planning, and presents to leadership when appropriate.
Represents Marketing and Communications on selected committees, task forces, and ad hoc meetings.
Serves as a liaison to assigned departments or units to provide strategic counsel regarding communication and marketing needs.
Serves as a resource for the Institute community for issues regarding branding, design, and visual identity. Works closely with the UT Knoxville and UT System creative teams on branding and editorial issues.
The Director reports to the Vice Chancellor of Marketing and Communications.
The Institute’s four major units are the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, the College of Veterinary Medicine, UT AgResearch and UT Extension. The Institute contributes to improving the quality of lives and enhancing the agricultural, economic, environmental and social well-being of Tennessee. Our clientele include students, families, farmers, 4-Hers, agribusiness and the general public.
