The Law School at Vanderbilt University is seeking temporary assistance in the Office of Communications & Publications. This position will function as a Marketing & Communications Assistant to temporarily support digital communications management of the law school public website, digital photography, and social media. This position will perform technical tasks to assist in the completion of various communications campaigns, major projects, as well as creation of graphics and materials.
The Office of Communications & Publications is responsible for leading the creation and rollout of quality, meaningful communications for Vanderbilt Law School by designing and implementing strategies and communications plans for clearly communicating efforts and strategic direction to a broad and diverse spectrum of stakeholders. Creates and shapes information for both internal and external audiences by developing communications strategies that successfully engage, connect and inform.
Duties and Responsibilities
Webmaster / Design, development, page layout, and use of photography and art to create and manage public websites applying best practices to ensure fluent navigation and usefulness.
Manage communications projects including, but not limited to: (1) set up law-specific Commencement webpage; and (2) FutureVU Digital website transition.
Digital photo management / Organize, maintain and manage photo database including minor edits, retouching, cropping and resizing. Select appropriate photos for use on public website, print publication, and social media.
Social media / Work with Communications Director to promote the accomplishments of all members of the Vanderbilt Law community, including students, faculty and alumni by identifying and producing content for posting on Facebook and Twitter, including news stories, events, media commentary, photography, slide shows, and alumni announcements.
A Bachelor's Degree in Communication, Journalism, Media, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field is necessary.
Experience using computers for a variety of tasks is necessary.
Experience working in Omni CMS, WordPress, Cortex, Anchor Link, social media platforms is necessary.
Effective written and verbal communication skills is necessary.
A high level of attention to is necessary.
Ability to work effectively within a team and independently is necessary.
